Bordering Seattle on the north is the city of Shoreline, which is home to just more than 50,000 residents. Although the area has been inhabited since the late 1800’s, and has been called Shoreline for at least 60 years, the city was only officially designated in 1995. It includes real estate on both sides of I-5, which is the main roadway through the city. Shoreline is largely a suburban community, combining homes, condos, and apartments with retail spaces.
Not surprisingly, the housing prices within Shoreline tend to be less-expensive than similar properties within the city of Seattle itself. However, among that inventory is plenty of homes that rise well above the average. Specifically, houses in the exclusive Highlands gated community along Puget Sound are frequently priced well into the millions.
The main reason for real estate buyers to focus their search on the city of Shoreline is the location that it offers. Whether one works in Downtown Seattle, at the University of Washington, or anywhere in the immediate areas surrounding the city, Shoreline is a great place to commute to and from. Beyond just the proximity to the city, the outdoor space offered to residents is a nice attraction – a total of 25 parks can be found within Shoreline, including Shoreline Park and Boeing Creek Park.
With a city the size of Shoreline, there is plenty of variety in the types of real estate that prospective buyers can choose from. A quick scan of the MLS listings in the area will reveal an incredible diversity in both price and style of housing available. Anyone working in the city of Seattle should strongly consider Shoreline as a contender for their next real estate purchase.
