Sunset Hill is located in North Seattle just north of the Ship Canal Bridge, west of loyal Heights and Ballard and south of Crown Hill. It encompasses the Shilshole Bay Marina and has beautiful waterfront homes and of course the Golden Gardens Park located in the North quadrant.
This quiet community sits along Seaview Ave., Northwest and is part of the bigger community of Ballard. It's home to the Sunset Hill Community Association and is one of Seattle's first neighborhood associations founded in 1922. It's home to the Sunset Hill Viewpoint Park featuring stunning views of the Puget Sound featuring and overlook to Elliott Bay and a popular vantage point of the Olympic mountain range.
According to Street Advisor.com, this neighborhood was ranked the third best in Seattle with an 8.4 rating out of 10. It's great for its parks, recreation, peace and quiet, safe neighborhood, use of parking and clean community. Cost of living is quite higher here in this community than other neighboring Seattle communities but it's popular for families with kids, professionals, retirees and even tourists, making Sunset Hill their second vacation home destination.
Many people call Sunset Hill a "portrait of serenity" as it's a true oasis and hidden secret in Seattle's bustling community. The Golden Gardens features unimaginable views of the cascade Mountains and beautiful panoramic overlooks of the Puget Sound.
Known for its unusually sunny days versus the rest of Seattle, Sunset Hill offers nice sea breezes, views and beautiful homes. Starting at the Ballard locks at the south end of the neighborhood, are fantastic views of the canal. Residents bike or walk up the Burke Gilman trail parallel to Seaview Avenue. There are a few waterfront shops, restaurants and a couple markets but this is primarily a residential neighborhood.
The Seattle Times was quoted as saying that the "Sunset Hill neighborhood in Seattle is a popular place for homeowners and visitors." With maritime breezes, Gardens and homeowners with true value and pride of ownership, Sunset Hill makes an ideal place for homeowners.
At any given time there are roughly 5 to 15 properties for sale in Sunset Hill. Homes range from traditional style 1970s ramblers, to two bedroom craftsman and luxurious five-bedroom waterfront view estates.
Sunset Hill is in the Seattle school district and most residents utilize some of the best schools in the city including the Loyal Heights elementary school, the Whitman middle school and the Ballard high school. These schools receive a 9 and 10 out of 10 by great schools.org and are known as some of the best in the city.
