The largest city in the Pacific Northwest, Seattle is located on the shores of beautiful Puget Sound with incredible views in nearly every direction. More than 600,000 people live within the city itself, but the metropolitan area includes millions more. Residents are drawn to the Seattle area for a variety of reasons, including the outdoor lifestyle, career opportunities, and more. Many prominent businesses are closely associated with the Seattle area, including Boeing, Microsoft, and Starbucks. Seattle is also home to two professional sports teams, the Mariners and the Seahawks.
Much like any other big city, the housing that is available consists largely of apartments and condos. However, to the north of the city (but still in the city limits) are plenty of neighborhoods like Ballard and Green Lake that also include single family homes.
Opportunity is something that many people love about living in the city of Seattle. Within the city limits, it is possible to enjoy fine dining, go to an NFL or MLB game, find live entertainment, visit the waterfront, and much more. There are nearly endless activities available in and around the city depending on the weather and the time of year. One specific attraction that residents and visitors alike will want to check out is the Pike Place Market, which offers a collection of shops and merchants with a decidedly northwest feel.
Not surprisingly, Seattle occupies a wonderful location in the Puget Sound area with easy access to surrounding communities and outdoor activities. A short drive on I-90 east leads to the Snoqualmie Pass area which offers hiking and skiing, while a short trip north can reach the Canadian border and another large city in Vancouver, B.C. For those who enjoy the coast, the Pacific Ocean is only a couple hours’ drive away as well.
Real estate in Seattle is highly competitive, so tracking the MLS listings closely is required to find just the right property for a new buyer. Whether one desires to live in the bustling downtown section, or in one of the quieter neighborhoods to the north, buying real estate in Seattle is an exciting opportunity to live in one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
