Lake Washington is one of the shining jewels of Seattle. The second-largest lake in the entire State of Washington, this beautiful freshwater lake is ringed by luxury homes. Seattle sits to the west of Lake Washington, with Bellevue on the east, Renton on the south, and a variety of other smaller cities in close proximity as well. The lake is among the most prominent geographical features in the greater Puget Sound area, and living on its shores comes with a long list of advantages including access to the water, stunning views, privacy, and more.
As you would expect, owning your own piece of Lake Washington waterfront property does not come cheap. While there are always a number of Lake Washington waterfront homes for sale, you will likely need to spend well beyond a million dollars in order to claim one of them for your own. No matter where you choose to live around the lake, waterfront property is always going to sell for a premium. With very few exceptions, the properties you find with waterfront access are going to be luxury single family homes.
Buyers looking for Lake Washington waterfront property can choose to live anywhere around the lake, or they can opt for Mercer Island to be right in the middle of it. Mercer Island has plenty of waterfront property to pick from, and it offers a quieter, suburban feel that is different from most of the cities and neighborhoods around the rest of the lake. Just as with the homes on the outside of the lake, however, those on Mercer Island usually sell for several million dollars.
Boating is naturally a popular activity in the greater Seattle area, and that holds true on the waters of Lake Washington. Fishing, water skiing, kayaking, canoeing, and much more are all done on the lake. While the waters are busiest during the summer, the lake remains quite active throughout all 12 months of the year. Those with luxury waterfront property are able to directly access the water, making it much easier to enjoy everything that this prominent lake has to offer.
Whether you want to live on the west side of the lake to be close to the city, or you want to get out onto Mercer Island or over to the east side, Lake Washington waterfront homes are always an attractive option. As long as you come prepared with the necessary budget and a good idea of what you are looking for in a luxury home, the Lake Washington real estate market will likely have something to suit your needs. Good luck finding your dream home on the shores of Lake Washington!
